In Australia, there are tons of unusual animals and insects that you don’t often see in America. For example, every time you have a barbecue, big kookaburras come flying to want a sausage. They are so used to being close to humans; once a Kookaburra was almost a foot away from me! Kookaburra’s get attracted by the smell of the food. It likes beef and salami. I remember that in California, the state bird was the Bald Eagle, but here in Australia, New South Wales, the state bird is a Kookaburra. Kookaburra’s can live up to 20 years. They have a 8 to 10 centimeter beak. It really eats yabbies (crayfish), small rodents, snails, worms, lizards, frogs, and snakes. I was surprised when I heard that Kookaburra’s don’t hunt for fish like most do.
